Hoxton
In 2011, I was lucky enough to be cast as the hard-bitten Sheffield gangster Hoxton in Overkill Software’s popular video game “PayDay: The Heist”.
Hoxton is a role I really enjoy because it’s so far removed from what I usually do in front of a mic. The scripts are great, and I’m allowed to improvise a little. It’s basically shouting therapy.
Since then, I’ve met fans of the game at London’s MCM Comic Con (a nicer bunch of bank robbers you couldn’t hope to meet), John Cleese has been my butler, and I’ve even helped a couple of fans propose to their girlfriends via personally recorded messages.
I’m so grateful for the support and kind comments I’ve had from fans of the game over the last few years. It’s a fact that I wouldn’t still be playing the part if it weren’t for them.
I hope to continue shouting Northern obscenities from behind Hoxton’s mask for as long as they’ll let me.
